Internship at Storybook Farm

In order to graduate every HDFS major must complete an HDFS-related internship. This internship must be associated with their personal interests and goals. During internship, the student will learn by engaging in hands-on experience and applying their academic knowledge to real-life situations. The internship consists of 450 hours at their chosen site. The specific learning objectives are listed on Auburn's Internship page.

While interning at Storybook Farm I learned how to work with kids of different backgrounds, plan activities, work with horses, lead activities, and more! I have grown so much while completing my internship. One of the biggest things that I am thankful for is gaining experience with kids in "stressful" backgrounds. This was something that I had very little experience in before working at Storybook Farm. I now know how to talk with them, how different "stressful" situations can look, and how different each kid is. I have been put in various different activities where I can use my creativity, like decorating for parties and planning activities! I am very glad that I chose Storybook Farm as my internship site and very grateful for my experience as an intern.
